| GLOBALCOMM, CHICAGO, June 6 /PRNewswire/ – ANDA Networks, the leader in carrier-class solutions for fiber and copper-based access networks, today announced that it has successfully completed International type approvals supporting Verizon Business Services Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) service offering across selected Asia Pacific, EU and Latin American countries. To date, ANDA has completed international type approvals for its EtherEdge 4000 Ethernet aggregation product for deployments in Australia, Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand. Type approvals are also pending in an additional 10 countries. Verizon Business Services has deployed ANDA's carrier-class Ethernet access products to extend their worldwide footprint of Ethernet service offerings to address the growing needs of large enterprise businesses over Verizon's global network infrastructure. Verizon Business deploys ANDA's EtherEdge 4000 series edge aggregation platforms to carry Ethernet services between U.S., Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin American locations. To further extend their international Ethernet footprint, ANDA is completing 10 additional in-country lab certifications for type approval.
ANDA's EtherEdge 4000 edge aggregation and EtherReach CPE platforms combine traffic originating from large business customers or many branch business locations across a single, secure and manageable Ethernet access circuit. ANDA Networks' EtherTone™ family of Access and edge platforms enable Verizon Business to offer Ethernet-based services over existing copper, SONET/SDH and dark fiber networks.
Recent statistics from Business Communications Review, Vertical Systems and Western European Telecom Statistics have indicated that approximately only 11% of businesses in the US and 5% in European countries are actually directly fiber connected today. According to Stan Hubbard, Sr.Ethernet Analyst for Heavy Reading, "The biggest obstacle holding up the adoption of Ethernet services has been availability, but industry players like ANDA and Verizon are working to address this concern. By utilizing ANDA EtherTone™ platforms, Verizon can quickly deploy their Ethernet service worldwide to the majority of locations not easily or economically reached by fiber builds using existing T1/E1/T3/E3 leased circuit network infrastructure."
ANDA EtherTone™ solutions provide cost-effective aggregation switching and cross connect for consolidating Managed Ethernet Private line, Transparent LAN and SAN connections for business customers requiring a simple Ethernet interface at the customer premise with connection into the Packet Switched Network.
"We're pleased to support Verizon's rapid international Ethernet expansion," said Charles Kenmore, president and CEO of ANDA Networks and Board Member of TIA the parent of Globalcomm. "ANDA had a record quarter of international shipments growing our installed base of over 6200 systems to accelerate the worldwide adoption of Ethernet based services".
ANDA will highlight its international and domestic products at GLOBALCOMM in Chicago on June 5-8, 2006 at Booth #42037.
