For six years, the SUPERQuest Awards have honored the best-built networks and most promising new technologies among SUPERCOMM exhibitors and their customers worldwide.  SUPERQuest Award recipients have been selected as the best of the best in delivering exceptional network design, supporting technologies and products across all facets of the communications infrastructure industry.  Winners are chosen by a panel of judges which include industry leading technology press, analysts and other experts.  According to Jack Chalden, general manager of SUPERCOMM, "the strength and resiliency of this industry is reflected in the SUPERQuest Award Winners and Runners-Up.  These forward-thinking, innovative companies give promise to the continuing growth and development of this industry and show us exactly where we should be headed in the future."

SUPERQuest Award nominations were accepted based on the following criteria:
Companies must have a presence at SUPERCOMM 2003, either through their own booth, that of a partner or by securing meeting room space on the exhibit floor.
Service Providers or Enterprise Organizations (Product Service Manufacturer) who have put their services or operations into commercial use during the previous calendar year (2002).
Vendors and/or Suppliers nominated for new technologies and products must have released their products to the market within one month of SUPERCOMM 2003 (May 1, 2003).

The EtherTone™ family addresses huge opportunities in the carrier Ethernet service delivery market, which is expected to grow to $4 billion in North America by 2005, according to Gartner Dataquest.  The EtherTone™ family consists of Layer Two devices that are Layer Three aware, with the ability to use VLANs to separate, prioritize, and manage traffic across the service provider's network.  In addition, the EtherTone™ family offers a wide variety of interfaces, including the DS3 interface, when compared to other industry related products.  These supported interfaces also include VDSL, 10/100BT, 100FX, Gig-E, DS3, OC-3 and OC-12.
