Orion Intelligent Access Processor™ to power its newly announced EtherSLAM “access
DSLAM” for Ethernet.
ANDA’s EtherSLAM™ (Ethernet Service Line Access Mux or E-SLAM for short) enables
carriers to cost effectively address the “sweetspot” for their enterprise customer's 10-100Mbps E-Line and E-LAN Ethernet service. Ethernet services, as a successor to
traditional private line and frame relay tariffed services, could not previously be cost
effectively deployed over fiber alone. ANDA's new EtherSLAM applies the concept of a
residential DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Mux) to the business broadband
marketplace by enabling carriers a cost effective high-density solution to offer managed
Ethernet services ubiquitously over existing copper, fiber, or wireless access
infrastructures such as WiMAX and microwave.
RMI worked with ANDA Networks to provide the Orion Processor, a highly integrated
System-on-a-Chip (SoC) solution with advanced service delivery capabilities, to
accelerate the development of the EtherSLAM product. Leveraging the scalability and
multiservice capabilities of the Orion chipset, ANDA’s E-SLAM provides carriers with a
flexible high-density carrier-class aggregation solution for delivering Ethernet services
ubiquitously over existing copper PDH/SDH, dark fiber, or wireless access infrastructure
via 100FX/GigE interfaces.
