ANDA Networks Selects Orion? Intelligent Access Processor from Raza Microelectronics, Inc. for Newly Announced EtherSLAM? Product
EtherSLAM Provides Next-Gen Ethernet Service Line Access Multiplexer for Carrier Class Ethernet Services
Raza Microelectronics, Inc., Cupertino, CA - October 23, 2006 – Raza Microelectronics, Inc. (RMI®), a worldwide leader in advanced semiconductor solutions for Communications, Networking and Consumer Applications, today announced that ANDA Networks, the leader in carrier-class Ethernet solutions for fiber and copper-based networks, has selected the Orion Intelligent Access Processor™ to power its newly announced EtherSLAM “access DSLAM” for Ethernet.

ANDA’s EtherSLAM™ (Ethernet Service Line Access Mux or E-SLAM for short) enables carriers to cost effectively address the “sweetspot” for their enterprise customer's 10-100Mbps E-Line and E-LAN Ethernet service.  Ethernet services, as a successor to traditional private line and frame relay tariffed services, could not previously be cost effectively deployed over fiber alone.  ANDA's new EtherSLAM applies the concept of a residential DSLAM (Digital Subscriber Line Access Mux) to the business broadband marketplace by enabling carriers a cost effective high-density solution to offer managed Ethernet services ubiquitously over existing copper, fiber, or wireless access infrastructures such as WiMAX and microwave.

RMI worked with ANDA Networks to provide the Orion Processor, a highly integrated System-on-a-Chip (SoC) solution with advanced service delivery capabilities, to accelerate the development of the EtherSLAM product. Leveraging the scalability and multiservice capabilities of the Orion chipset, ANDA’s E-SLAM provides carriers with a flexible high-density carrier-class aggregation solution for delivering Ethernet services ubiquitously over existing copper PDH/SDH, dark fiber, or wireless access infrastructure via 100FX/GigE interfaces.

"ANDA Networks is happy to be working with RMI. Orion's integrated support for rich L2 and L3 service delivery, including VLAN stacking, policing and QoS management provided the most integrated and cost-effective solution for our Tier 1 carrier customers in the market,” said Charles Kenmore, president and CEO of ANDA Networks and Board Member of TIA, the parent of Globalcomm.  “We believe that the integrated functionality offered by the Orion processor enables the ANDA EtherSLAM to offer “pay-as-you-grow” upgradeable functionality to our already installed base of over 6500 systems deployed on carrier revenue generating networks for aggregating Ethernet over nxT1/E1 or nxDS3/E3 Ethernet demarcation devices.”

"ANDA Networks completely leverages Orion's advanced packet processing capabilities to enable carrier’s to offer Ethernet based business broadband services to the 80-90 percent of enterprise sites that lack direct fiber connectivity, said Rajat Roy, vice president product development and general manager, Access Processor Solutions at RMI.“  We are extremely pleased that they selected the Orion Processor and this selection continues to validate the strength and value that Orion has over its competitors in the market.”

The Orion Family of Intelligent Access Processors is a highly integrated Ethernet over next-generation SONET/SDH access processor solution for the Intelligent Access Market.  It provides flexible interface options including Gigabit Ethernet, 10/100 Ethernet, protected SONET/SDH (optical or MSPP fabric), and a PDH expansion bus for T1/E1 and T3/E3 service capabilities.  Orion’s integrated packet processing engine delivers highly controlled QOS/COS capabilities through its support for line-rate classification, admission control, traffic management, scheduling and packet editing.  Orion further optimizes the transport of Ethernet Services over the existing SONET/SDH infrastructure utilizing GFP, HO/LO Virtual Concatenation and LCAS. The Orion family also provides a carrier class solution for the delivery of Ethernet services over Ethernet carrier networks.
